Precautions For Using An Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor

Oct 10, 2023

1. The cuff is usually tied to the left arm. If the cuff becomes noticeably loose after being tied, it can be re tied at an automatically measured interval, with the tightness determined by placing two fingers down.
2. The limbs wearing cuffs on the day of monitoring should avoid bleeding and other injuries to avoid congestion or infection.
3. The automatic measurement time interval is generally set to once every 30 minutes and once every 1 hour at night. Patients can engage in daily activities during the interval, but avoid vigorous exercise. All activities should be immediately stopped during ambulatory blood pressure recording, and their arms should be relaxed and vertical; Pay attention to the position of the straps at all times, and do not bend the pressure pipe at any time.
4. The cuff should be properly tied and tightened to avoid displacement or looseness of the cuff caused by large movements of the upper limbs, resulting in measurement data errors. Patients should be taught to regularly check and adjust.
5. During the inspection, protect the record box. Do not open the record box and remove the battery by yourself. Do not bathe, swim, get wet or collide with the recorder. Do not go to places with strong magnetic fields or electric fields. Do not use electric blankets, and do not operate heavy equipment or power tools to avoid interference and affect the monitoring results.
6. Minimize driving and riding in cars as much as possible.
7. The monitoring process requires patients to keep a diary, detailing their discomfort and exercise time within 24 hours, indicating the time, activity status, and symptoms.
8. Patients should be careful when taking off their clothes when going to bed. Do not disconnect the air hose from the monitor, and pay attention to the position of the upper arm during sleep to avoid compression of the trunk.
9. Install and disassemble the recorder at the hospital according to the agreed time.
10. If there is any obvious discomfort during the examination, please seek medical attention in a timely manner to avoid delaying treatment.
