Key Benefits of Pe-Rt Floor Heating Pipe

Oxygen Barrier

The inner layer of PE-RT prevents oxygen entering the system via the pipework.

Easy to Lay

APE-RT can hold and maintain its shape, when formed by hand.

Corrosion Free

The coatings stop oxygen from entering via the pipework minimising the risk of corrosion to the system.

Advantages of PE-RT Floor Heating Pipe

PE-RT Pipe is 5 times lighter than steel pipes.

The temperature linear expansion of PE-RT pipes is several times less than that of standard PEX pipes. Good heat and pressure resistance.

PE-RT pipes is somewhat cheaper, while meeting all the requirements for this heating method.

Do not need maintenance during operation and are silent at almost any flow rate.

100% Recyclable.Green environmental protection products, can be recycled and reused.

PE-RT compatible with all PEX fittings, and it's a less expensive option.

What is Usage of PE-RT Pipe?

The overall usage of PE-RT pipes is extensive and versatile. You can use these pipes for plumbing, hydronic heating and cooling, water service, snow and ice melting, and geothermal piping systems. Most users of the PE-RT pipes have a positive experience with this kind of pipe, mainly because the pipes are long-lasting and can withstand high and low temperatures. These pipes have a long history of usage in the European market. Professionals have used PE-RT pipes for 35 years in Europe, and the pipes came to the American market in 2003. Since then, many homes and commercial buildings are using these pipes in their water and heating systems. PE-RT applications include the following:

  • Radiant heating and cooling systems (floors, walls, ceilings)
  • Outdoor snow and ice melting
  • District Heating/Cooling
  • Hot and cold water plumbing distribution

PE-RT pipes are also used for chilled water piping among all these applications, which gives them great versatility. You can use these pipes for both hot and cold water, which is an extra advantage in the piping systems.

The material can be used in industrial applications as well. Good weldability provides an option to connect even bigger pipes in different industries. An example of this kind of application is oil production, where larger pipes need to be connected. This allows oil constructions to work correctly.

Other applications of PE-RT pipes are found in sanitary piping systems in buildings. Well-installed pipework can withstand high-pressure water and substantial temperature changes in the most critical areas of the buildings. That is why PE-RT pipes represent the solution that provides the best balance between costs and quality. In both domestic and industrial use, these pipes show the potential to last for a long time and provide the best solution for the installation practice.

Tips for PERT Floor Heating Pipe Implementation

  • System Design: Proper system design, including correct pipe sizing and layout, is essential for the optimal performance of PERT pipe installations. Consulting with a professional plumber or engineer can help ensure a well-designed plumbing system.
  • Compatibility: While PERT pipes are compatible with most plumbing fittings and connectors, it is crucial to verify compatibility with other components in the system to prevent any compatibility issues during installation or maintenance.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure that the PERT pipes you choose comply with local building codes and standards to guarantee the safety and reliability of your plumbing system. Compliance with industry regulations helps avoid potential legal and insurance-related complications.
  • Professional Installation: To maximize the benefits of PERT pipes, it is advisable to hire experienced plumbing professionals who are knowledgeable about PERT pipe installation techniques. Their expertise will ensure proper installation, minimizing the risk of leaks or other issues.

FAQ

Q: 1.What does PERT stand for in plumbing?

A: PE-RT stands for Polyethylene of Raised Temperature resistance. As the name suggests, these pipes are made from polyethylene, which can resist high water temperatures. They come with improved processability and long-term power at higher temperatures.

Q: 2.What is the difference between PEX and PERT tubing?

A: PERT is only required to withstand 48 hrs and cannot meet the same temperature / pressure ratings as PEX. PEX is required to withstand 100 hrs before failure. Pexflow PEX-A is tested to withstand more than 1,000 hrs.

Q: 3.What is the pressure rating for PERT?

A: PE-RT tubing is SDR9 with standard hydrostatic pressure ratings of 200 psi at 73°F (1379 kPa at 23°C) and 100 psi at 180°F (690 kPa at 82°C).

Q: 4.What is the difference between PEX and PERT?

A: In general, PERT pipe may be a better choice for high-temperature applications, while PEX pipe may be a better choice for low-cost and easy installation. It is important to carefully evaluate the specific needs of your project before making a final decision.

Q: 5.Is PEX better than PERT?

A: PEX & AL-PEX pipes can withstand up to 95ºC, while PERT can only withstand 60ºC. Water underfloor systems reach 65ºC if their mixing valves are turned right up, so choosing PEX or AL-PEX gives you peace of mind that your system will keep going strong, even at capacity.

Q: 6.What is PERT material?

A: PERT, short for Polyethylene of Raised Temperature Resistance, is a type of plastic pipe that combines the advantages of both traditional polyethylene (PE) and cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) pipes.

Q: 7.What is the pressure class of PE pipe?

A: Typically the standard specification identify class of a HDPE pipe is by the nominal pressure class - PN - up to PN 20 or 20 bar. HDPE pipe can also be classified by the material used - PE 100, PE 80, PE63, PE 40 or PE 32.

Q: 8.Is PERT more flexible than PEX?

A: Flexibility: PERT pipes are more flexible than PEX pipes, which makes them easier to install. They are also less prone to kinking, which can cause water flow restrictions and result in reduced water pressure. This makes PERT pipes ideal for use in areas where tight turns or bends are required.

Q: 9.Is PE pipe the same as HDPE?

A: HDPE is a type of PE pipe. However, HDPE pipes are more durable than other PE pipes because they come with high melting and impact points. HDPE pipe is tough, resistant to chemicals, resistant to corrosion, and light in weight.

Q: 10.What is polyethylene PE pipe used for?

A: These benefits make it an ideal piping material for a broad variety of applications such as potable water service or distribution lines, natural gas distribution, lawn sprinklers, sewers, waste disposal, and drainage lines. PE materials are generally resistant to most ordinary chemicals.
