Water pipe installation is a concealed project and difficult to rectify after completion, so special care should be taken during the installation process.
PVC-U Water Pipe Installation Steps and Methods
1. Pipe Sawing and Beveling
A: Pipe sawing tools should include fine-tooth saws, cutters, and pipe cutters. The cut should be smooth and perpendicular to the pipe body, and there should be no deformation at the cross-section.
B: The socket can be beveled with a medium-sized plate file to a 15°-30° angle. The bevel thickness should be 1/3-1/2 the pipe wall thickness, and the length should generally be no less than 3mm. After the beveling is completed, any debris should be removed.
2. Pipe End Socket Depth
The pipe cutting length should be determined layer by layer based on actual measurements and the dimensions of the connecting pipes. Tools should include fine-tooth saws, cutters, and pipe cutters. The cut should be smooth, and there should be no deformation at the cross-section. The spigot to be bonded can be filed with a medium-sized file to create a 15° to 30° bevel. The bevel length should generally be no less than 3mm, and the thickness should be 1/3 to 1/2 the pipe wall thickness. After the bevel is completed, any debris should be removed.
3. Adhesive Application
We recommend using our company's specialized PVC adhesive. Dip the small brush provided with the adhesive into the adhesive and apply it to the joint surface of the pipe and fitting. Apply the adhesive axially, quickly and evenly. Apply the appropriate amount of adhesive, avoiding any gaps or excessive application. This is especially important during winter construction; apply the adhesive to the socket first, then the spigot.
4. Socket-and-Spigot Connections
After applying the adhesive to the spigot, immediately insert the pipe into the socket, aligning the pipe end to the depth indicated by the markings. Ensure the spigot is straight and correctly positioned. Hold for 2-3 minutes to prevent slippage. The gap between prefabricated pipe ends should be no more than 5mm.
5. Maintenance of Socket-and-Spigot Joints
After completing the socket-and-spigot joint, wipe away any adhesive that has been squeezed out with cotton yarn or a dry cloth dampened with detergent. Allow the joint to cure, depending on the adhesive's properties and climatic conditions. The curing time should be extended appropriately during winter or rainy seasons.
