There are many types of floor heating pipes, so which one should I choose so that the floor heating will not leak?
Maybe "floor heating leakage" is something everyone will worry about before installing floor heating, and friends often consult about this issue.
First of all, as long as the qualified pipes are produced by the manufacturer, constructed according to the standards, and there is no subsequent construction to damage the pipes, then the floor heating will not leak.
The price difference of pipes is large, which has a lot to do with the material. At present, the mainstream pipe materials on the market are PERT, PEX, etc.
PERT pipe
PERT pipe can be divided into PERT-Ⅰ type and upgraded PERT-Ⅱ type. Type Ⅱ has greatly improved performance in all aspects.
PERT pipe can be produced using recycled materials, and the production line is domestically produced, so the overall production cost is very low, and most of the low-priced pipes are this type of pipe.
Compared with PEX pipes, PERT has better flexibility and is easier to construct.
However, PERT pipes cannot withstand too high temperatures, so PERT pipes are mostly used for household heating with lower water temperatures.
If you want to make a cost-effective floor heating system, and the outlet water temperature of the floor heating is below 60℃, then it is recommended to use PERT pipes. If the budget is sufficient, you can consider using PERT oxygen barrier pipes, which can inhibit scale formation and ensure the heating effect.
PEX pipes
PEX pipes can be divided into three types: PEXA, PEXB, and PEXC. Currently, PEXA pipes are more commonly used in the market.
PEXA pipes can only be produced using new materials, and the production technology is mostly introduced from abroad, so the production cost is higher than PERT, and the market price is also more expensive.
The various physical properties of PEXA pipes are greatly improved compared to PERT pipes, with higher strength, less damage, and better temperature resistance. In addition to conventional household heating, they can also be used for radiators with higher water temperatures and centralized heating.
If you want to improve the quality of floor heating and have more applicable scenarios for pipes, then it is recommended to use PEX pipes. If you have enough budget, you can consider using PEX oxygen-blocking pipes, which can better ensure the heating effect.
Floor Heating provides three ways to check the quality of floor heating pipes:
① Look at the appearance
Look at the appearance of floor heating pipes. Good quality floor heating pipes have a relatively smooth appearance, without bumps, bubbles, obvious color differences, and impurities.
In addition, the brand, model, specification, production batch number, and other information of the floor heating pipes will be marked on the floor heating pipes. The printing on good floor heating pipes is clear and not easy to fall off.
② Look at the feel
Use your hand to feel whether the pipe has grooves and edges. Good quality pipes feel delicate and smooth.
When bending the pipe by hand, the hardness should be moderate to ensure that it can be easily bent during floor heating construction.
③ Look at the thickness
The minimum wall thickness requirement for floor heating pipes is 2mm, but some floor heating pipes on the market are marked with a wall thickness of 2mm, but in fact, it cannot be achieved.
