China's waterborne inorganic coatings industry status quo analysis and development prospects report

Sep 15, 2024

Waterborne inorganic coatings are a type of coating that uses inorganic materials as the main film-forming substance. It is the abbreviation of all-inorganic mineral coatings. Due to its high performance, it is widely used in daily life fields such as architecture and painting.

According to the "China Waterborne Inorganic Coatings Industry Status Quo Analysis and Development Prospects Report" released by China Economic Industry Information Research Network: Waterborne inorganic coatings are inorganic polymer coatings composed of inorganic polymers and dispersed and activated metals, metal oxide nanomaterials, and rare earth ultrafine powders. They can react quickly with iron atoms on the surface of steel structures to generate inorganic polymer anti-corrosion coatings that have both physical and chemical protection effects and are firmly bonded to the substrate through chemical bonds. They are pollution-free, have a long service life, and have anti-corrosion performance that reaches the international advanced level. They are high-tech replacement products that meet environmental protection requirements.

Water-based inorganic coatings are mainly developed by adding various modified materials to interior and exterior wall inorganic coatings with potassium silicate and silica sol as the main adhesives. This type of coating can achieve Class A non-combustible performance, and extremely low organic emissions, and the construction performance and stability of extremely organic coatings are closest to traditional latex paints, but the combustion performance of silica sol inorganic coatings is one level lower than that of potassium silicate inorganic coatings and can only reach Class A2.

Only by vigorously developing environmentally friendly and functional coatings can we seize the initiative in the green consumer market. Although countries have different standards for green products, they all emphasize that products should have characteristics that are beneficial to human health and environmental protection. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) white paper, two-thirds of the world's buildings contain excessive harmful gases in the air, and more than 64% of the pollution comes from wood products. Implementing the green development direction of coating products is in line with the interests of market consumers and the direction of sustainable development of the industry. Therefore, in recent years, the market size of my country's water-based inorganic coatings industry has continued to expand, and the market size will reach 54.322 billion yuan in 2022.

In recent years, more and more cities have carried out "old city renovation" activities to transform urban planning structures, improve the urban environment, adjust the industrial layout, improve the urban living environment, and organize large-scale public service facilities construction, which has correspondingly generated a large demand for architectural coatings. At the same time, due to the limited land resources in my country's first- and second-tier cities, some urban central areas have no residential land available. Under this circumstance, the second-hand housing transaction market is hot, which has brought about the secondary decoration market of urban stock houses and generated an increasingly strong demand for architectural coatings renovation. In the future, with the continuous improvement of the urbanization rate, people's income level will gradually rise, and the demand for architectural coatings will also rise, which will in turn drive the rapid development of the coatings industry. Therefore, the architectural coatings industry has broad development prospects.
